“I don’t want to get to the end of my life and find I just lived the length of it. I want to have lived the width of it as well.”
~Quote by Diane Ackerman, an American Poet

My approach is person centered and collaborative, offering a safe, nonjudgmental space where you can feel heard, supported, and empowered to create meaningful change. I believe therapy is most effective when it feels like a genuine human connection—one rooted in trust, compassion, and the freedom to show up as you are. For more than twenty years, I’ve worked with children, adolescents, young adults, and families across a variety of settings. My experience includes supporting clients navigating trauma, anxiety, depression, grief and loss, disability and special needs, adoption, relationship challenges, and major life transitions. I also bring specialized training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to help build skills for emotional regulation, distress tolerance, and healthier relationships.
Throughout my career, I’ve been continually inspired by the resilience people carry, even when they can’t see it themselves. My role is to provide a steady, compassionate environment where you can explore your experiences and discover new ways forward.
I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) with MSW and MPH degrees from the University of Minnesota. I am licensed in Minnesota and Arizona.

I am experienced in both mental health and addiction therapy and have experience working with clients from many different backgrounds. I work with men, women, and adolescents 13 years and older. It takes courage to ask for help, which is the first step to recovering from whatever issues may be present. In addition to addiction therapy, I also utilize mental health modalities for difficulties such as depression, anxiety, ADHD, and social anxiety. My therapeutic approach is psychotherapy-based, and I use talk therapy, mindfulness skills, CBT, M.I., and peer development exercises. I believe in connecting clients to various resources/ supports that may be helpful to their recovery. I enjoy working with clients to find the best therapeutic approaches for them. I have an undergraduate social work degree from Winona State University and a graduate social work degree from Saint Mary’s University of MN. I received my addiction training from Metro State University.

I create a nurturing environment for clients through genuine compassion, patience, and open-mindedness. My style is kind and warm, infused with creativity and a sense of humor. As a therapist and previous educator, I have extensive experience supporting individuals of varying abilities, identities, and neurotypes. Curiosity is my driving force, and I love witnessing and honoring client’s stories. As your therapist, I’ll provide space for you to explore challenges you’re experiencing, express your vulnerabilities, and tap into your innate strengths.

Clients often work with me to process relationship/social challenges, past traumatic experiences, neurodivergence, and life transitions. I have a particular passion for addressing root issues through a systemic and trauma-informed perspective, with interventions such as EMDR and Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART). I practice from a humanistic, strengths-based, and relational lens through additional modalities such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Interpersonal Neurobiology, and Mindful Self-Compassion. My clients tend to be creative over-achievers who are seeking support to make positive changes to enhance their personal and professional lives. I specialize in substance use and/or mental health issues with an emphasis on co-occurring disorders. Exploring life satisfaction in the 8 dimensions of wellness is one approach I use to identify potential areas for change. Tapping into intrinsic motivation is a primary focus of treatment as we work collaboratively to identify strengths and set/implement goals. Areas of specialization are: forgiveness therapy, perfectionism, creative recovery and productivity coaching. I utilize holistic, eclectic and creative approaches in my clinical therapy. I continually strive to discover and maximize my clients’ potential and increase their motivation to make positive life changes. I believe in a multiple-pathways approach to recovery from substance use and mental health disorders. I hold a Master’s Degree from the University of Minnesota, and am a dually licensed alcohol and drug counselor and mental health therapist.

I am a white, cisgender woman who brings many years of experience working with folks across multiple settings across the lifespan. I consider myself a generalist, having worked in hospitals, schools, clients’ homes, and outpatient clinics with clients aged 8-88. I am trained as a family systems therapist and see our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors as part of a complex system of connectedness and interdependence shaped by our earliest relationships and environments.

I currently treat older adolescents, emerging adults, adults, and families for issues related to generalized anxiety, depressive and bipolar disorders, relational conflicts, and general dissatisfaction with one’s current life as it is. I strongly believe that life does not always provide us with all we want or deserve, and that it is what we do with what we’ve got that counts the most.

I have a BA in Psychology from Macalester College and a Master of Social Work (MSW) degree from the University of Minnesota. I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) in Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Arizona.

Considering and engaging in therapy can take a lot of courage. I believe in meeting a person where they are at, and working to help one feel heard, supported and understood. This therapy offers a kind, safe and supportive environment. It’s important a person has a voice in their treatment. I believe the therapeutic relationship can help one heal, cope with and overcome challenging life obstacles.
I’m trained to provide an evidence-based treatment for treating trauma, called Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). I work to have an integrative approach using therapeutic models that include forms of cognitive behavioral therapy, psychodynamic therapy, and dialectical behavioral therapy. I have 26 years of experience working with conditions that include anger, trauma/adversity, anxiety, depression, grief and loss. I have also worked with various addictions, co-occurring problems, and character concerns, such as those on a personality disorder spectrum, Bipolar Depression and Schizophrenia spectrum. I work with those between ages 16 to elderly. Please reach out via email or phone if interested, and I will give you a call.

Loving someone who struggle,s with addiction can be painful. It can be hard to watch someone you love experience the ups and downs of entering recovery and then falling back into active addiction. They can get caught up in their head looking for the perfect answer – or any answer – to solve their problems. Often people find themselves in an uncomfortable limbo of not knowing what to do in those moments of struggle. These are the moments that a professional outside the situation can provide a space for you to reflect and explore how to create a life with less pain and more joy.

I hold an MA in Counseling, am an LADC, and received training at The Meadows in Arizona. The Meadows Model of codependency is the primary framework I use to help clients create a new way of being in relationships and to face challenges.

In my life I have traveled many wrong paths. Life was often my only teacher — because when I wasn’t willing to listen, it made itself heard. These life experiences, and healing from them, have given me a deep understanding of human folly and compassion for our foibles.

Now I am able to combine this hard-earned life wisdom with my professional training to create a non-judgmental, empathetic, and respectful space for you to take a moment to focus on creating a life you love living. Together we will work to better understand how childhood experiences impact thoughts, emotions, behaviors, and ultimately your relationships. By incorporating The Meadows Model with CBT and psychodynamic therapy, I will help you discover how to recognize your own value, experience your own reality, manage vulnerability, create interdependency, and how to meet your wants and needs in social interactions and relationships.

Therapy is, first and foremost, a warm, safe, and trusting relationship between therapist and client. As I believe each person’s experience is unique, I work to tailor the therapeutic process to create a safe environment to heal and facilitate growth through an exploration of emotions, experiences, and relationships. I am passionate about supporting people dealing with concerns including depression, anxiety, family dynamics, traumatic experiences, emotion regulation, and interpersonal problems. I also have experience working with individuals who have co-occurring substance use and mental health concerns. I received my graduate degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Drake University and have worked with a diverse population of individuals, families, and groups.
